SEED Instructor Certification Requirements
Purpose
The purpose of this exhibit is to clearly identify the training parameters, learning outcomes, and expectations for both parties during the SEED Instructor Certification Course(ICC).Additionally this document is to outline recertification requirements for future recertifications if both parties wish to enter another agreement.
I. Prerequisites for Acceptance Into The Training Program
The Parties acknowledge that prior to the date the Instructor in Training License Agreement is entered into that the Instructor named in said agreement has met all of the prerequisites to be accepted into the SEED Instructor Certification Course, including:
1. Has completed and submitted the STRIVE4YOU Instructor Certification Course application and the $75.00 non-refundable application fee.
2. Has satisfactorily passed an extensive background check.
3. Has completed a panel onboarding interview.
4. And has received a written letter of acceptance into the ICC from the Program Director.
II. Initial Training Requirements
The following requirements outline the obligations of both parties during the Instructor Certification Course:
1. Instructor meets prerequisites
2. Instructor successfully completes online SEED101 Safety Education training and related quizzes. Instructor must score an 80% or higher on each quiz to advance to the next module.
3. Instructor attends and Completes the Orientation & Relationship Building (ORB) webinar training.
4. Instructor Attends in-person physical technique training or Instructor Certification Training (IC). Instructor must pay any remaining balance of the Instructor Certification Fee no later than 14 days prior to the scheduled ICT to be eligible to attend. The ICT is scheduled multiple times each year in different parts of the country. Instructor is responsible for all travel costs. The initial ICT registration fee is covered in the InstructorCertification Fee, however Instructor may attend other ICT opportunities for an additional registration fee which they will be responsible for.
5. After, and only after, satisfactorily completing the ICT, Instructor shall then be permitted to start teaching. Instructor must teach a minimum of twenty shadowing hours supervised by a SEED Advanced Instructor, which must be completed to obtain certification. STRIVE4YOU will inform Instructor of completion of this step and that they may start teaching.
6. Instructor successfully completes post-ICT training requirements, which include:
a. Instructor facilitates twenty shadowing hours supervised by a SEED Advanced Instructor. Instructor shall be recorded during shadowed teaching hours for review and evaluation.
b. Instructor successfully completes online post ICT self-paced modules and related quizzes. These modules include sensitivity training , instructor marketing, and other professional development topics. Again, Instructor must score an 80% or higher to advance to the next module.
c. Instructor Successfully completes a Final Written Exam covering all ICC content covered during online and in-person training with a grade of 80% or higher.
d. Instructor successfully completes final technique exam conducted by a SEED Advanced Instructor with a grade of 80% or higher. This exam will be recorded for review and evaluation.
Following the satisfactory completion of all above requirements, Instructor and their assigned Mentor shall review all evaluations prior to submission to the STRIVE4YOU Evaluation Council for final review for certification.
III. STRIVE4YOU Initial Training Obligations
1. Upon receipt of Instructor’s application and $75 application fee, STRIVE4YOU shall perform a background check through a third party. The third party company will contact Instructor to gain personal confidential information in order to complete the check. STRIVE4YOU and its representatives will never ask for or collect sensitive information such as social security numbers.
2. Once Instructor satisfactorily passes a background check, STRIVE4YOU shall schedule a paneled interview with the Instructor within 14 days from the date the application was received.
3. After all prerequisites have been fulfilled, STRIVE4YOU shall provide the Instructor with a letter of acceptance into the Instructor Certification Course and assign Instructor a mentor. The mentor is a SEED Advanced Instructor and is there to assist the Instructor throughout the ICC and should be in contact with Instructor at least once a month.
4. STRIVE4YOU shall provide Instructor with access to all licensed training materials through the “Instructor Portal” on the strive4you.org website. This material will include all SEED curriculum, teaching tools, Reporting forms, and instructor specific resources to assist in their professional journey as a SEED Instructor. Instructor may request materials in an alternate format if deemed necessary.
5. STRIVE4YOU shall provide ample virtual and in-person training opportunities for the Instructor to satisfy all Initial Training Requirements, including ORB & ICT training, Professional Development opportunities, and optional additional training sessions such as regional Technique & Networking Training (TNT) or the annual STRIVE4YOU National Retreat.
6. STRIVE4YOU shall provide general recommendations in regards to marketing, general business startup, presentation format, and other support.
7. STRIVE4YOU shall Regularly evaluate and update all licensed materials and instructor specific resources for revision. STRIVE4YOU shall promptly inform Instructor of any updates as they occur.
8. STRIVE4YOU shall submit all module quizzes, written & recorded evaluations, and all final exams promptly to the STRIVE4YOU Evaluation Council for final consideration of certification. The Evaluation Council will review all materials and make recommendations or approval for certification within 14 days after receiving all of the Instructor’s ICC evaluations. The council will inform the Instructor in writing of their decision. If the council needs to extend their review timeline for any reason, the chair of the council shall provide written notice to the Instructor.
9. STRIVE4YOU shall upon receiving written notice of approval, provide Instructor with a certificate confirming successful completion of the Instructor Certification Course.
10. The initial training period shall last no more than twelve (12) months from the date of the signed Instructor in Training License Agreement. The Instructor may complete all requirements prior to the end of the Initial Training Period, at which time both Parties may enter into a regular SEED Instructor License Agreement outlining terms and obligations. If after the Initial Training Period expires and the Instructor has not completed all the requirements for certification satisfactory, STRIVE4YOU reserves the right to:
a. Extend the Initial Training Period, at which time both parties will enter an agreement that outlines the extension terms.
b. Ask the Instructor to re-start the Initial Training from the beginning;
c. Ask Instructor to re-apply;
d. Or dismiss Instructor from the Instructor Certification Course.
IV. Recertification Requirements
Each instructor is certified for a term of twenty-four months prior to the initial training period. During this time in preparation for recertification the following requirements must be completed:
1. A recertification fee of $150 is due within forty-five (45) days of the renewal date of January 1st. This payment can be broken down into two annual payments of $75.00.
a. A recertification exam must be completed no later than thirty (30) days prior to the renewal date. This exam is over the physical techniques of the SEED Curriculum and can be taken in either person or virtual with a partner. The instructor must score a 90% or higher on this exam to pass.
2. Instructor shall complete a minimum twenty (20) SEED teaching hours prior to the renewal date.
3. Instructor shall complete a minimum twenty (20) approved Professional Development hours prior to the renewal deadline.
4. Instructor shall complete a minimum of twenty (20) approved SEED ongoing training hours prior to the renewal date.
5. Instructor shall purchase and maintain a General Liability insurance policy, including damage to property, of an amount adequate to support the Instructor's liability of the Initial Term and, if agreed, any Extended Term. The cost of the insurance is to be paid by Instructor. Instructor shall not violate, or allow any violation of, or relapse such policy. Instructor shall provide STRIVE4YOU a copy of such policy for each term of certification.
6. Instructor must satisfactorily pass a standard background check every two years, to be paid by STRIVE4YOU out of the Recertification Fee.
7. Instructor shall maintain the status of Instructor in Good Standing throughout their certification term. And must satisfy any outstanding requirements prior to recertification being granted.
Upon successful completion of the Recertification Requirements a new Instructor License Agreement will be issued. Once the new agreement is signed by both parties a certification certificate will be issued with the date of the new certification term. If the instructor fails to satisfactorily complete any of the Renewal Requirements their certification shall be terminated.If there are negating circumstances, the instructor may request an extension on one or more ofthe requirements for STRIVE4YOU to consider. STRIVE4YOU reserves the right to dismiss an instructor for any reason outlined in this exhibit, the License agreement, the STRIVE4YOU Code of Contact or failure to maintain a status of good standing with STRIVE4YOU.
V. Good Standing Policy for Instructors
In SEED, you will hear quite a bit about Quality over quantity. To ensure the quality of the program and its instructors, a good standing policy was developed. Below are standards to maintain a status of good standing with STRIVE4YOU. If an instructor falls out of good standing with SEED, leadership will reach out to inquire on the well-being of the instructor. This policy is used as a guide for recertification purposes as a tool for assessment.
1. Complete monthly Reports properly and in a timely manner.
2. Complete all required recertification hours on time.
3. Pay annual fees in a timely manner.
4. Attending at least one national or regional retreat of SEED at least once a year.
5. Actively Teach a minimum of 1 SEED workshop or class every 3 months.
6. Engage with your mentor at least once a month
7. Always conduct yourself professionally, in accordance with the STRIVE4YOU Code of Conduct, and do not do anything that may negatively impact, bring disrepute, or damage the reputation of STRIVE4YOU and its programs or services.
